Participation in Neuroethics Asia-2026

This year has been an enriching journey of scholarly engagement and international collaboration in bioethics and neuroethics.

I had the privilege of presenting two papers at the 17th World Congress of Bioethics 2026. I was also honoured to have my work accepted for presentation at the European Association of Centres for Medical Ethics (EACME) 2026 in Leuven, Belgium. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances prevented me from travelling, and I had to withdraw my presentation at the last moment—a decision that was deeply disappointing.

I am now looking forward, with renewed enthusiasm, to participating in Neuroethics Asia 2026, hosted by the Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, on 6–7 November 2026 at the Kent Ridge Guild House. The conference is anchored by CBmE, with the initiative being advanced through the Oxford–NUS Centre for Neuroethics and Society in collaboration with the International Neuropsychological Society (INS).

At the conference, I will present my paper:

"Embryonic Consciousness Before the Cortex? Nyāya, Neuroethics, and Collective Reflective Equilibrium in Reconsidering Prenatal Moral Status."

I also hope this visit to Singapore will provide the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas in person with Professor Julian Savulescu and Dr. Brian D. Earp, whose scholarship has profoundly influenced contemporary bioethics and neuroethics. I look forward to engaging with colleagues from around the world in what promises to be an intellectually stimulating and enriching conference.
